Get your Wappu started with Wappu task race! On Tuesday, April 2nd from 4 pm to 8 pm, we’ll be wandering around checkpoints around the city center, followed by an afterparty at Valta. The party will also feature a band to entertain you. This year’s theme is animals, so put on your best animal-themed outfit and overalls, gather a group of 6 people and join us in exploring Lappeenranta. The event is for everyone, not just freshers!
Participating in the checkpoint tour is free! Get your checkpoint pass from the LTKY’s event section before you start from 15:00 onward. Tickets and overall patches will be sold at LTKY’s website on the day of the event 2.4. at 8:00 and from the checkpoint of LTKY’s event section from 15:00 onward. Afterparty bracelets are distributed from the LTKY’s Event section checkpoint.

Wappu has started, yay! There is a lot of going on, but for many this also means that alcohol (and other substances) are being consumed more than what one’s thoughts or needs are. So, in the middle of the Wappu mayhem, it’s good to stop for a moment and think about the reasons behind why you drink.
Alcohol may be used unknowingly, for example, to regulate emotions, manage stress or deal with difficult issues. However, alcohol does not eliminate any problems as it usually only makes things worse in the long run. For many, alcohol can also be a way to relieve social anxiety. However, at worst, this can cause a difficult feeling that you don’t even want to meet people anymore while being sober.
April’s Mental Health Monday is celebrated on April 8th and the topic of the month is substances and their effect on mental health. During the day, the topic will appear on social media. In addition, we’ll organize a low-threshold event, where you can come and grab a few tools for thinking about your own relationship with alcohol, stop by for a coffee and a moment of relaxation, or stay for a chat. MIELI Etelä-Karjalan Mielenterveys ry is also present. 💙
If you feel that you could benefit from help in reducing alcohol consumption, you can contact any of the contact details mentioned in the post. Reducing and cutting out alcohol completely are easier said than done, but you don’t need or should stay alone in this.

Who said you must run, jump, and sweat in the Guild Olympics? Counter-Strike is once again part of the Guild Olympics, as well as one of the most exciting events in Wappu!
You have the opportunity to come and watch the playoffs (semifinals, bronze, and gold matches) live in the Kellari on April 11! The first games start at 12:00 when you can already secure a good spot in the stands. The event is free and non-alcoholic.
The sports managers of the guilds have assembled teams of at least 5 people and the group stage games have started. The teams are divided into two (2) groups, the best two (2) from each will go to the finals. Payoffs are played using the best-of-three (BO3) method.
At the event, snacks are available for pocket money, as well as team spirit as the audience cheers their guild to victory! 🏆🔥

The traditional LTKY Lahti Excursion takes us to the second home city of LUT University! On 13.4. at 8:30 we leave from Yliopistonkatu 34 (at the front of the university) by one bus towards Lahti. In Lahti we will have fun activities, including a sitz party at the Lahti market square. We will be heading back to Lappeenranta at 21:00. Registration for the event opens on 5th of April at 12:00. Registration closes on 12th of April at 15:00 or when all seats are booked.

Can you find your way home in the wee hours of the night? How quickly can you fetch water for a spreading Wappu bonfire? Do you know what to do when your friend passes out? Gather a team of 2-6 people and come test your skills at Lutuset’s Wappu Skills Competition! You can also come alone. The checkpoint round starts from the bonfire spots at 3 PM and lasts until about 5 PM, after which there will be marshmallows, sausages, coffee, and tea available for hanging out. At the end of the day, the winner of the competition will be announced. The best team will be rewarded! The event will be held rain or shine, following the scouting tradition. The event is alcohol-free.

On Wappu Eve, it’s time again to bring Finland’s longest Wappu to its climax! The Kurki statues will be capped in Maria Square on 30 April at 12:00. At the same time, older students can put on their caps again and escort the freshmen to the harbour for the baptism. After the capping, we will immediately move to the baptism site on the boat launching ramp in the harbour, where the slides are already waiting for the freshers! The freshers move to the baptism in pairs from Maria Square.
