Study advocacy

The education policy sector of the Student Union of Lappeenranta University of Technology monitors the interests of the members of the student union in study matters as well as in national university policy matters. LTKY’s education policy sector consists of the board’s higher education politics member and the advocacy expert. The responsibilities of the person in charge of higher education politics are higher education policy and study matters. In addition, lobbying work is carried out by a lobbying committee, which consists of representatives of the guilds in addition to the members of the student union.

The activities of the higher education policy sector are divided into advocacy activities and the provision of member services. Advocacy activities mainly consist of contacts with various parties both locally and nationally. Locally, there is active contact with, for example, the study office, the vice-rector responsible for education and the student representatives in the administration, in addition to actively participating in several different LUT working groups and committees. Nationally, contacts are maintained with many national influencers as well as other student unions. Close co-operation is established with, among others, the National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL), the Teekkari and Kylteri Student Unions, the Peripheral Student Unions, Professional community of academic engineers and architects in Finland (TEK) and central organization for the Finnish Business School Graduates (Suomen Ekonomit).
