Hobby voucher

 

Have you always wanted to try a new sport? Now is an excellent opportunity to find a new hobby, as LTKY launches a hobby voucher in Lappeenranta! Get a €25 voucher from the office, which allows you to participate in training sessions organized by a sports club involved in a project. The voucher must be used for training sessions within the same club and entitles you to attend approximately 2–5 sessions, depending on the club.

The hobby voucher trial is carried out in collaboration with the City of Lappeenranta.

How to use a hobby voucher

  • Get the hobby voucher at the LTKY office during opening hours.
  • From the participating clubs, choose the one whose training you want to participate in. The voucher must be used for the training sessions of the same club.
  • Take the hobby voucher with you and arrive at the right time at the right place for training.
  • Give the hobby voucher to the instructor and follow their instructions. They can provide additional information if necessary.
  • Take part in as many training sessions as the voucher covers for the club you choose. You can check the amount on the LTKY website and from the training instructor.

Participating clubs

Catz

  • Catz is a Lappeenranta-based basketball club with a recreational group called “Ladies”. Despite the name, it’s a mixed group, and everyone is welcome, preferably with some prior basketball experience. English-speaking students are also welcome! 
  • Training sessions are held on Wednesdays from 9 PM to 10 PM at the Pallo Sports Hall. For more information, contact Terhi Selonen via email.
  • The first session is free, and with the voucher, you can attend four sessions (1+4 sessions free). Additionally, you get one free entry to a Catz representative team’s regular season game.

Fc LaPa

  • Interested in futsal and football? There are separate recreational groups for both women and men, playing futsal in January-February and football in March-April. English-speaking students are also welcome!

  • The first session is free, and with the voucher, you can attend five sessions (1+5 sessions free).

Lappeenrannan Kisa-Toverit

  • Lappeenrannan Kisa-Toverit is a Lappeenranta-based fitness and swimming club. For swimming, they have groups for all ages, with adult groups being the most suitable for students. There are three skill-level groups for adults: Swimming Technique Course (starting level 25–50 meters, progressing in some way in the pool), Adult Skills Group (starting level 50–100 meters, basics of swimming), and Adult Fitness Group (starting level 200 meters). Together with the adults’ fitness group is a masters competing team. English-speaking students are also welcome!
  • Training times can be found on the club’s website.
  • With the hobby voucher, you get five technique course sessions + the remaining five sessions for 25 € (normally 60 € for the course) or 3 months of training with the club’s masters group using the hobby voucher + 25 € for the rest of the season (normally 60 €/half a year). The club’s coaching fee does not include entry to the swimming hall.

Lappeenrannan tanssiurheilijat

  • Lappeenrannan Tanssiurheilijat organizes Latin Day dance events open to everyone. Latin Days are suitable for enthusiasts of all skill levels. English-speaking students are also welcome!
  • Latin Day dance events are held 4-5 times per season. Dates will be published here.
  • With the voucher, you can participate in two Latin Day dance classes for free. You can choose the class in which you want to participate.
  • Additionally, without the voucher, you can attend two classes of the adult beginner group or Bailatino for free.

Lappeenrannan voimistelijat

  • Everyone is welcome to adult gymnastics! Each person practices according to their skill level, whether they are joining for the first time or are former competitive gymnasts. This sport also complements other athletic activities well. English-speaking students are also welcome!
  • Adult training takes place on Thursdays from 7:30 PM to 9 PM at the Kahilanniemi Gymnastics Hall. Find more information here.
  • With the hobby voucher, you can attend two training sessions.

LOMA Cheer

  • Cheerleading is a versatile sport involving lifting and throwing people as well as floor acrobatics. In adult recreational training, the focus is more on lifts, also known as stunts. The tricks performed during training are tailored to the participants’ skills so that everyone can perform suitable tricks. English-speaking students are also welcome!
  • Recreational training takes place on Wednesdays from 7 PM to 9 PM at the Lappeenranta Sports Hall. Register separately here.
  • The first session is free, and with the voucher, you can attend three sessions (1+3 sessions free).

LrNMKY

  • Lappeenrannan NMKY focuses on boys’ and men’s basketball in Lappeenranta. Apart from competitive activities, they offer hobby opportunities for adults in the 2nd team. Some prior basketball experience is preferred from hobbyists. English-speaking students are also welcome!
  • Training sessions are held 1–2 times a week at the Pallo Sports Hall. For more information about timings, contact Ville Nieminen via email.
  • Try it out for a month for free and get a 25 € refund on the season fee with the hobby voucher if you decide to continue the hobby.

Raja-Karjalan suunnistajat

  • Raja-Karjalan suunnistajat organizes fitness orienteering events for everyone, from beginners to experienced fitness and competition orienteers. 
  • English speaking students are also welcomed!
  • There are at least three different track options:
    A – demanding course for fitness and competitive orienteers 5 – 7 km
    B – medium-long, easy fitness guide course 3 – 4 km
    C – an easy and short course for orienteering beginners, approx. 2 km
  • With a student card, you get a -50% discount on participation and emit-card rent.
  • With the hobby voucher, a student gets 5 participation times with the emit card.
  • Without an emit card a student gets 6 participation times, but then the electronic result calculation is not in use.

Willimiehen Disc Golf

  • The club organizes weekly competitions and training sessions for those interested in disc golf. English-speaking students are also welcome, notify the club beforehand so they have an english-speaking instructor available.

  • With the hobby voucher, you get an adult club membership (20 €), 3 free weekly competitions, and two sets of weekly competitions as a MEMBER once you have obtained a rating (3 €/time). Without membership, the voucher offers 3 free weekly competitions and after obtaining a rating, 4 weekly competitions (6 €/time).
