The elections for the Student Union of the LUT University (LTKY) Representative Council will be held as electronic elections in autumn 2023. Advance voting starts Wednesday the 25th of October and ends Monday the 6th of November. The actual voting starts on the 7th of November and ends on the 8th of November at 3 PM. 27 representatives will be elected in the election.
The elected LTKY Representative Council, which consists of 27 members, forms the highest decision-making body of the Student Union. The elections take place every other year and all LTKY members, which include for example LUT degree students, can become candidates. The Representative Council guides the Student Union’s operations by deciding, for instance, the amount of the membership fee, action plan for each year, finances and direction of the Student Union’s future. Every year, the Council appoints their Chairpersons as well as the Executive Board.
An electronic voting system will be used on all voting days. The Tuudo-app will be used as the electronic voting system. Voting can be done via the app or a separate webpage. Link to the electronic voting system can be found online at the Representative Election 2023 page of LTKY’s website before voting begins.
In the event of exceptional circumstances, the Central Election Committee can be reached at keskusvaalilautakunta(a)ltky.fi. The Central Election Committee reserves the right to change procedures and will enforce the Rules for the Representative Council Elections as well as other rules of the Student Union.
Right to Vote and Voting Eligibility
All members of the Student Union of LUT University who have registered for attending and paid their membership fees by Monday 25th of September 2023 are eligible to vote in the Representative Council Election 2023.
The electoral register contains everyone who is entitled to vote and is eligible to stand for election. The electoral register will be available at LTKY’s offices and on LTKY’s website for seven days starting from Friday 27th of September 2023. The electoral register published on the website uses the student number and from LTKY’s offices you can also verify your eligibility by asking with your name.
Complaints concerning the electoral register must be submitted to the Central Election Committee by Wednesday the 18th of October, by 3 PM.
Becoming a Candidate
The candidate nomination for the elections will begin on Wednesday the 27th of September. Nomination is primarily only possible with an electronic form published on LTKY’s website.
Candidate nominations and declarations of the establishment of electoral alliances and electoral rings must be completed and sent no later than 9th of October 2023. The election forms that must be submitted to the Central Election Committee and the instructions concerning them will be added to the Representative Election page of LTKY’s website.
The Central Election Board wishes all voters, candidates and electoral alliances to behave respectfully towards other voters, candidates, electoral alliances and electoral rings.
