Student card
A valid student card is required for student discounts. The student must order a new card themself. As a member of the Student Union of LUT University, you’ll get access to the digital Slice student card. In addition to the student card, Slice offers numerous national and local benefits for students.
Student cards already in use must be updated with a new academic year tag, which can be obtained from the LTKY office.
If you have any questions about the digital student card, please contact Slice’s customer service. If there are problems with ordering the cards themselves and with the policies, LTKY staff will help you.
Once you have registered as a present and paid the student union membership fee, go to slice.fi/ltky and fill in the form (use your student email to register). You will receive Slice activation credentials to your student email within 1–2 days. Also, don’t forget to grant permission for data sharing in Sisu – otherwise, your student card will not work.
Download the Slice.fi app from your app store and log in using the credentials you received. To ensure the card functions properly, allow the app all the permissions it requests.
You can also order a physical student card.
In order to get a student card, you must give Sisu permission to transfer your data to the student card register.
The digital student card is in the Slice.fi application. The application must be downloaded to the phone and is available from the App Store and Google Play.
Download the Slice.fi app from your app store and log in using the credentials you received. To ensure the card functions properly, allow the app all the permissions it requests.
The digital student card is activated within about 3 business days. During rush times, such as at the beginning of the academic year, activation may take a little longer.
If you change your phone, you must update your student card to your new phone. Go to slice.fi/resetoi and enter your email address that you have in Slice. After a while, you will receive an email with a link that you can click to receive new application activation keys to your email, which you can use to log in to Slice.fi application.
The digital student card stops working one month after you graduate and you are no longer entitled to student discounts.
Lappeenranta, Kouvola and Mikkeli
Students in the Lappeenranta, Mikkeli or Kouvila can order a physical student card from the student union if they wish. The card can be ordered and paid via LTKY online shop. Ordering a physical student card costs 30€, and to receive student discounts, the card must have a valid academic year sticker. The sticker indicates the validity period. The sticker can be updated at the student union office.
Once your card is ready for pickup, you will receive a notification by email. It takes 1-4 weeks for the card to arrive.
Lahti Campus
From autumn 2025 onward, Lahti campus uses a combined access and student card. The facilities on the Lahti campus are locked, and an access card is required to enter. This same access card also functions as a physical student card. The card is ordered only once and is valid for the entire duration of your studies.
To function as a student card, the card must have a valid academic year sticker. The sticker shows how long it is valid. The sticker can be updated at the student union office.
Students who have started their studies before autumn 2025, will use the same access card they already have. If a student wants to order a physical student card, it can be done via LTKY’s online shop.

Please note that you will not receive email about the order. If you were able to send the form, the order came through. You will receive email when the card is ready for pick up. It takes 1-4 weeks.
To update your student card, you must first pay the student union membership fee and register as an attending student. After a few days, the information will be updated on the digital student card, or you can apply for an academic year tag on the physical student card from the student union office. You need the student card with you. The tag cannot be detached, but is placed on the card by the student union staff.
If you can’t pick up the academic year tag yourself, send your student card and a return envelope with a stamp to the student union, and we will return the student card with the tag to you. Each mailing of the card is done at the student’s own responsibility.

You can also authorize another person to apply for an academic year tag for your student card. The person must have a student card, to which the tag is placed, as well as a free-form power of attorney OR a membership fee receipt as proof.

K-Market Ratakatu, K-Market Kanneli and K-Market Vapari
K-Market Ratakatu, K-Market Kanneli and K-Market Vapari offer students a -5% discount of the total amount of purchases by showing a student card. The benefit does not apply to Plussa offers, tobacco, alcohol or nicotine products, Veikkaus, Posti or Matkahuolto products, infant formula or bottle deposits.
K-Supermarket Sammonlahti
K-Supermarket Sammonlahti offers students a -5% discount of the total amount of purchases by showing a student card. The benefit does not apply to Plussa offers, tobacco, alcohol or nicotine products, Veikkaus products, infant formula or bottle deposits.
Campus cafe Lamkooma
The Lamkooma cafe located on the M19 campus offers products at student prices to LTKY members by showing a student card.
K-Citymarket Paavola
K-Citymarket Paavola offers all LUT students -5% on groceries. You can use the benefit by showing your student card at the checkout. (The discount does not apply to alcohol, nicotine products, discounted products, Veikkaus, infant formula, fire-making equipment)
