The Student Union of LUT University (LTKY) represents 7 800 undergraduate and postgraduate students studying at LUT University in Lappeenranta, Lahti, Turku, Kouvola, and Mikkeli. We strive to enable a student experience that exceeds expectations and support students in becoming forces for positive change in society. Our compact team operates on two campuses in Lahti and Lappeenranta.
The Higher Education Policy Specialist is responsible for advocacy related to the student union’s education policy.
The role includes developing education policy advocacy and stakeholder cooperation, representing students in various working groups, and advising students on matters related to higher education policy. The specialist works closely with the LTKY board member responsible for higher education policy.
We expect from you:
- Proficiency in written and spoken Finnish and English
- A desire to develop the student union’s advocacy and operations
- Strong collaboration, coordination, and organizational skills
- Experience in advocacy work and higher education environments
- Ability to work independently
- University-level studies
Considered an advantage:
- Experience working with volunteers
- Current knowledge of the LUT Group and LTKY
- University studies relevant to the position
This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours/week). The primary workplace is the LTKY office in Lappeenranta. Work mainly takes place during office hours, but some evening and weekend work may be required. The job includes occasional domestic travel and regular travel to the Lahti campus. Remote work is possible.
Work starts as soon as possible by agreement following the selection. A six-month probationary period applies.
The employment relationship follows the collective agreement for student unions, and salary is based on pay group III, ranging from approximately 2 200€ to 2 700€ depending on prior experience. We also offer occupational health care, a lunch benefit, and a gym membership as employee benefits.
