LUT University Board

Position: Full member
Term start date: January 1, 2026
Term end date: December 31, 2027

LUT’s board is the university’s highest decision-making administrative body. Its task is to decide, among other things, on the university’s key objectives, strategy and principles of governance for its operations and finances. The board meets approximately four times a year. We expect that the board halloped is committed to the position and communicates actively with the student union. Also, a halloped member should take initiative and have an open mind as well as motivation to promote student affairs. No previous experience is required, but we consider any similar experience to be an advantage. The position does not require Finnish-speaking skills, but please take into account that the administrative language of LUT is Finnish. Therefore, the translation process of documents may require some patience, especially in the beginning of the term.

Eligible for the position are student union members who are not in an employment relationship with the university that covers more than 50% of the working time of the employee group in question. The term of office of the LUT board’s halloped is two years. The meetings provide a meeting fee and valuable experience in, for example, meeting behavior, negotiation and decision-making.

Applications are collected directly to the contact person’s email. The eligibility of applicants is checked in advance and all eligible applicants are interviewed. Interviews will be held in weeks 43 and 44. The application is free-form, but we hope to see the following:

  • Study program
  • Estimated completion date of studies
  • Introduction text
  • CV or experience in organizational activities
  • A photo is optional.

The interviewing team will nominate one person from among the applicants for selection and will be notified of this in advance. Decisions on halloped positions will be made at the LTKY representative council meeting on November 4 at 5 p.m. All applicants are welcome to attend the meeting.

The academic council meets approximately once a month during the academic year, so the time spent preparing for the meetings is 5-10 hours per month, depending on the month. The meetings provide a meeting fee and valuable experience in, for example, meeting behavior, negotiation and decision-making.
