County elections

Advance voting for the county elections has started!

Advance voting for the 2022 regional elections started on Wednesday, January 12th. and ends on Tuesday January 18th. The actual voting day is Sunday January 23rd.

Advance voting can be given at any of the city’s 11 advance polling stations, all of which are also physically accessible.

On the actual election day, voting may take place only at the polling station which is entered in the register of voting rights for each person entitled to vote.

Lappeenranta’s advance polling stations are located in different parts of the city, as is familiar. There are a total of 11 advance polling stations, the same as in the 2021 municipal elections.

Teekkari cap order, batch 2

The most glorious days to be a freshman approaches when Wappu (first of May) draws closer. Now is the time to order your shining white teekkari cap so it’s ready when the time comes! Teekkari cap on this second batch costs 134 € for students who began their studies at autumn 2021 or spring 2022 and 145€ for older tech students. The bill will come in email at the beginning of March. Deadline for this second round of orders is Wed 2.2.2022. This is the last change to order the teekkari cap for this Wappu 2022! FSHS

Remember to pay the health care fee!

The health care fees for students in higher education have been verified for 2022 in accordance to the act on student health care for students in higher education. There will be no changes in the fees compared to 2021.

The health care fee is in 2022 71,60 euros. The fee is EUR 35.80 per term, and it is paid for both the spring and the autumn term. Students will pay the healthcare fee to KELA to access FSHS services. If the healthcare fee is paid after the due date, the student also has to pay a late-payment charge of EUR 5. 

The Finnish Student Health Care services charges a sum of 40 euros for appointments in which the student has not cancelled, moved the appointment or arrived on time to the appointment. The charge will not be applied if there is an acceptable reason for not showing up at the appointment.

For the spring term, the due date is 31 January provided that you have registered as attending by then.

Pop-up rental shop

There is a pop-up winter equipment rental shop next to Lappeenranta’s Winter Castle (Satamatie 11). The rental shop is open on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm (depends on weather). Snowshoes, slippers and e-fatbike bikes are available for rent. Marshmallows are available for grilling free of charge for the little ones.
