Be heard. Alive.

You don’t need to spend Valentine’s day at home

Is your only plan to spend the Valentine’s day weekend at home? Now it’s possible to have a nice Valentine’s Day, whether you spend it alone, with a friend, or with your partner.

If your heart beats for music this Valentine’s Day:

On Valentine’s Day at 8 pm you can find pop ballads arranged for piano by Kamilla Kavala and Samu Salo in Satamatie 6 café. You can also find music in Nuijamies, where Kauko Röyhkä starts at 9 pm. If your Friday is already full, on Saturday you can go to listen to Pepe Ahlqvist & Joel Ahlqvist at Carlos Restaurant.

If you’re spending a single night but don’t want to spend it next year (or just want to have a fun night out):

Head your confident steps to Nuijamies, where you can find quick dating and other activities on Friday 14.2. at 6pm. There is also an event for single people at Giggling Marlin, where you can find other single people.

If you spend Valentine’s Day with a group of friends:

Exciting experiences can be found in escape rooms: TrueEscape or Room Escape, where you can get a discount price with Student Card. If you want to go and enjoy the program The Amarillo Can you Feel the Love Tonight -event is perfect for you. You can enjoy it regardless if  you’re single, taken or anything in between. The program includes a Burleski performance and Disco Inferno.

If you think outdoors is the best way to spend the day (requires a car):

In the nearby area of Lappeenranta there are good hiking opportunities and lean-to huts at Hämmäuteensuo, Haikkaanlahti and Myllymäki. So get some company, snacks and go enjoy the outdoors. There is also a ski center in Myllymäki. If the weather is unfavorable, grab your friends and go climbing at Boulder Saimaa. If you want to do something extraordinary you can join field ice fishing world championships on Saturday 15.2. at Lappeen harju.

If you plan to finally head to the theater:

On Friday 14.2. at 6:30 p.m., Maukka, Väykkä and syntymäpäivä, and at 7 p.m., Liian paksu perhoseksi. Saturday at 1 pm begins with Liian paksu perhoseksi, 1:30 pm Maukka, Väykkä ja syntymäpäivä, and 7pm Verkossa. You can read more about Verkossa play here and Liian paksu perhoseksi play here in Finnish. The whole program can be found from here.

The valentine’s day doesn’t necessary mean much to you, but you can take it as an opportunity to see your friends or do something different. If you want to stay at home, that’s fine too.
