For students

New students

Hello new student and welcome to LUT University! On these pages you will find information about activities that you should do before starting your studies, about freshman weeks and about the studies themselves. See you in the fall!

Exchange and doctoral students

Every student completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at LUT University is a member of the student union. Exchange students and doctoral students can also be members. Registering as a member and paying the membership fee most often takes place in connection with the semester registration.

Student card

A valid student card is required for student discounts. The student must order a new card themself. As a member of the Student Union of LUT University, you’ll get access to the digital Slice student card. In addition to the student card, Slice offers numerous national and local benefits for students.

Student culture

One of LTKY’s most important tasks is to act as a promoter of culture and community. For our part, we want to ensure that the culture of the different fields of study is reflected on our campuses and that traditions are respected. At the same time, however, we strive to develop and renew our traditions to suit the present day. It is important to us that, in accordance with Skinnarila’s spirit, everyone feels welcome and feels part of the community.

Welfare

Find information regarding welfare: housing, health care, university pastors and more.

Study advocacy

The education policy sector (koulutuspolitiikka or kopo in Finnish) of LTKY oversees the interests of the student union members in study matters and national higher education policy matters. The LTKY kopo sector consists of the student union board’s educational policy representative(s) and an education policy specialist, who is a staff member. Their areas of responsibility include, among others, the exam archive, the annual teaching quality survey, problems related to courses, and the development of education together with LUT.

Learning difficulties

If you have a documented diagnosis of learning disability, it can be taken into account in different study-related situations, depending on your needs and possibilities. If, on the other hand, you have not yet been diagnosed with a learning disability, but you think you might have one, you can contact FSHS about this.
