Representative elections are here again! New Representative Council of Student Union of Lappeenranta University of Technology (LTKY) will be elected between 20.9-6.11. Influence with your vote!
ELECTRICAL VOTING INSTRUCTIONS
LTKY will arrange the 2019 Representative Council election electronically. Voting takes place via Internet and voting is possible from the 22nd of October at 9 am to the last election day the 6th of November until 3 pm. The official voting station is located in the Student Union House lobby and is open on the official voting days 5.-6.11. from 9 am to 3 pm. In case of problems, electrical voting is guaranteed to be possible at the official voting station.
The administrator of the system guarantees that the vote will take place on the official election day at the official voting station on the 5th and 6th of November 9 am to 3 pm, but electrical voting is also open from the 22nd of October to the 6th of November at least from about 9 am to 11 pm. The electrical election is organized by the Central Electoral Committee and the administrator of the Student Union.
In case of failure in the system, the elections can be transferred according to the decision of the Central Electoral Committee to the backup election days on November 12th and 13th. If voting is blocked due to a failure of the electoral system, elections may be renewed.
Provide sufficient time to vote. Remember to vote in peace and alone to secure election peace. Voting should happen at your own will, so do not vote under pressure.

Log in to the system. Choose “Edustajistovaalit 2019” -tab and pick your candidate. System checks your vote twice: Pick a candidate who you wish to vote. Then click “Vote” and confirm your vote by clicking “Press again”. When you have voted, click “Sign out” and close the window.
After voting you can log in to the system but you cannot vote again or change your vote. If you want to confirm that your voting was successful, log in to the system. System will inform if you have used your vote.

The Representative Council is the highest decision-making body of the Student Union and meets approximately once a month. The Representative Council elects a Board for the Student Union and appoints student representatives. Chooses the student representatives for the LUT University, LOAS and FSHS administrations and decide the amount of the membership fee and approve the budget. In addition, the Representative Council decides on the broad lines when LTKY expresses its opinion on, for example, education policy.
All eligible LTKY members are listed in the LTKY Representative Council Election List.
Eligibility means that you have the right to vote and to sign up as a candidate in council elections.
If your name is not on the electoral roll, you will not be able to vote or stand for election.
The electoral list is available at the Student Union office
September 20th to 27th 2019 during office hours.
If you are unsure of your eligibility, check it from Monday to Thursday from 10am to 3pm and Fridays from 10am to 2pm at the LTKY office. If you cannot get there, you can contact the Central Election Commission Secretary.
If after an inspection, we find that your name is not on the electoral list, but you believe you are eligible, you must file a written appeal. You can ask the office or the Central Election Committee secretary for more information.

Forming a coalition
If you don’t find any of the coalitions suitable for you, but you are interested to apply for the representative councils elections, one can always form a new coalition.
- Two or more candidates can form a coalition. Coalitions name and sign must be marked to the application form. You must also fill out the coalition foundation form, which can be found in the Student Unions office and website (in Finnish).
- The coalition foundation form has to be delivered to the Student Union office by 14th of October at 15:00.
You can apply for the nomination in the Representative Council elections by submitting your candidate registration to the LTKY office in accordance with the LTKY election rule before 14.10. 3:00 p.m.

Instructions for the LTKY Representative Council elections for students in Lahti and Turku
LUT students from Lahti and Turku can sign up as candidates in the representative elections of the Student Union of the Lappeenranta University of Technology with the normal customs.
- Check your eligibility at the Student Union office in Lappeenranta or contact the Central Election Committee secretary during the opening hours of the LTKY office
- Fill in the nomination form (learn more on the Sign up as a candidate tab)
- Please return the form to LAMKO office in Lahti or TYY office in Turku according to opening hours – you are also welcome to return the form to Lappeenranta LTKY office!
