DuuniDay 2020

DuuniDay is the largest one-day recruitment fair in Lappeenranta. Contact and recruitment event DuuniDay, to be organized already for the 24th time in Lappeenranta, brings together students of Skinnarila and companies looking for future talents. The event is organized by LUT Career Services. Join to the Facebook-event to get all the current information.

When and where?
DuuniDay takes place on 28 January, 2020 at 10 am – 3 pm at LUT University. You will find the company stands at main lobby, 2nd floor and 3rd floor.

DuuniDay also includes side program related to job hunt. More information will be released in this Facebook-event, so be sure to join the event!

This event is intended for LUT and LAB students. Free entrance!

Career Workshop – Job applications 24.1.2020

What is the role of a job application and what should it include?
Come to hear what the employers are looking for in job applications and ask questions concerning your own job applications.

Job application workshop will take place in room 2209 at 13.00 pm – 15.00 pm

Teekkari cap order, batch 2

The most glorious days to be a freshman approaches when Wappu (first of May) draws closer. Now is the time to order your shining white teekkari cap so it’s ready when the time comes! Teekkari cap on this second batch costs 134€ for students who began their studies at Autumn 2019 or Spring 2020 and 145€ for older students. The bill will come in email at the beginning of March. Deadline for this second round of orders is 5.2.2020. This is the last change to order the teekkari cap for this Wappu 2020! MAKE NOTE! LUT Highway -students may only order their caps after being admitted in as degree students.

Club activities

Come to try acting!

Lappeenranta student theater ActI is looking for interested people in their spring’s play, to be performed in late March/early April. This time, we will make a modern version of Macbeth by Shakespeare. It’s performed in Finnish, but there are many non-speaking roles like the light tech and costumes. The training will start very soon, so contact director Pia: pia.karkkainen@student.lut.fi or by phone 0453314649 (also whats-app). No previous experience is needed, so this is an awesome chance to try things out! For other activities in our drama club, contact acti@ltky.lut.fi!

Gaming club Louhi ry

Interested in board games? Do you need to relax in the middle of snowless winter?

Gaming club Louhi ry organizes a board game evening on Wednesday 29th of January 17:00 at Cafe Bar G. There will be light games and option to play chess. Welcome!

City of Lappeenranta

Survey of attractiveness of Lappeenranta and services for families with children and young adults

The survey is intended especially for young people, students and families with children, but of course everyone can answer.

Among the respondents who left the contact information will raffle these prizes:
– 10 visit tickets to Lappeenranta Swimming Pool – a ticket to the Finnkino cinema
– City Theater Gift Card for 2 persons
– One month free parking at Willipark Parking Garage

The library of your dreams

The Lappeenranta Main Library is about to go under renovation in 2022–2023, and is now being planned. The renewed main library wants a more functional and modern library that meets the needs of its customers.

The library is the most used cultural service in Lappeenranta, so ideas and wishes for planning are sought from city residents and library users. The Lappeenranta City Library has launched an online survey, which allows anyone to submit their own ideas and wishes about what the renewed main library should be. The online survey is open until February 7th.

Summer jobs in city of Lappeenranta

The city of Lappeenranta will employ nearly 140 young people for various jobs this summer. Summer jobs are available in, for example, museums, sports, youth work, tourism, urban planning, land management and environmental management.

The first summer jobs open on Friday 17.1. and you can apply for a job during the spring. Exact application times vary by task. Applications for summer jobs are made electronically through the Kuntarekry service.

Visma Solutions

This event is held and requires Finnish skills. Visma Solutions is organizing an event Koodausta ja kisailua designated to students.This year participant are competing in teams of three. So gather up your own team and accept the challenge! There’s room for 12 teams and the winners will get Play Station 4 Pro gaming consoles. More information and enrollments in here.

Visma Solutions’ trainee positions are open. This year for summer-trainees we’re looking young talents to marketing, sales and product development.

We’re organizing casual after works after DuuniDay 28.1. at our office in campus. Come to chat about summer-trainee positions, career possibilities or just to connect with our staff. Our office is located in LUT’s main building, 4. floor above Street Cafe.There will be trainees from past year and also our recruitment responsible. We will start at 17 with short stories by the trainees. Little something to eat and drink too. No need to sign up, just show up!

Finnish engineering award has been awarded for 40 years already. During the years the award has been given to e.g. a team working for satellite projects, developers of hormonal contraception, new generation weather radar, enablers of lactose-free and good-tasting milk and workers working in led lightings’ optics. Who should we award this 30 000€ award this year? Propose a person or a team by 31.1. Unfortunately more information and proposal form is only in Finnish here.
